How well do average Americans understand U.S ideals. I think that they really don't know much except why at they watch on TV or hear on the radio. They really would not know about U.S ideals because they are rapped up in there own little lives to care about such things. Most American people just think that they can't do anything to change the government such as vote for president. In fact I went around and asked people why they would not vote for the president they said they would but they think they will get called for jury duty. So I think that the average American would not know much but I also think we need to teach them so they to can have an effect on our great country.
This is a link to a site that tells about manifest destiny that is one of the great American ideals. Manifest destiny was a term used in the 1840's to justify the united states west ward expansion. They expanded into places such as Texas and California. (information from http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h337.html)

  1. Hi Clyde! The paper you link to about Manifest Destiny is not exactly about how it is a "great American ideal." I'd love if you could explain the importance of westward expansion for American Ideals in your own words?
